Adding Signature Links In Your Forum Posts

Postby PuReWebDev on Sat Aug 11, 2007 6:47 pm

One great way that people use to market their site to people of similar interests is by participating in an online forum and using their signature space to link back to their own websites. Signature links are a great way to build lots of back links to your website.

By participating in many online forums you can build lots of awareness of your site, and generate a multi-channel traffic stream to you. Most forums will allow their members up to two links in their signature, but every website is different, so check the rules of the forum that you join.

Here's a great example of how this could work for you. Let's say you have a website that sells luggage and handbags, you could join a travel forum or tourism forum and add links back to your site so that people interested in travel and tourism can easily find your luggage and handbags shopping site.

The more you participate in online forums, the more back links you will build. When it comes to search engine marketing, the number of high quality back links to your website can make or break your search engine placement.

Fantastic, although on a forum, I'd make the signature link code something like this:
Code: Select all
Shop American Made Products

this way, your important keywords are used in the link text that points to your site. The search engines will pick up not only the fact that you are getting a backlink to your site, but will also pick up on the keywords or link text used to link to your site with. This is a great way to start getting your site to rank for certain keywords.

Hope this post was helpful.
