Have you ever wondered what exactly happens when your visitors go to your site?
What pages they visit?
How long have they been on your site?
Do they return?
How did they find you?
These are all common questions that every website owner asks. Knowing the answer to them could in fact help you to better position your advertisements, plan your specials, upgrades, and more. The best way to answer these questions and gain insights into your website's metrics is to use an analytics program.
I recommend using Google Analytics to do this. It's free and doesn't interfere with the performance or look of your website. Basically it's a small snippet of javascript code that you will add to your website that will silently collect website usage data in an intelligent way.
Now, if you want to actually see exactly what your visitor did on your website, then you might want to take a look at http://www.robotreplay.com . Currently it's still free. Again it's a small javascript that you add into the footer of your site (functions concurrently with Google Analytics as well). What is so special about Robot Replay is that it actually records the mouse movements of the visitors and replays back their session to you. This is a great way to see how your visitors navigate around your site.
The above stats programs are external solutions. E4E clients also have access to the built in tracking programs inside the control panel.
Do you know of some other great statistic programs? If yes, please list some.
